Chasms at Thee Parkside, SF |
It was a family affair at Thee Parkside, community in the very best sense, gathered for a stacked bill of Bay Area dark noise. Kicking things off was Some Ember's Dylan, doing it solo style. The duo, now located in Berlin, was stateside for a visit, and a happy late addition to the bill. Following up was Houses of Heaven, helmed by Keven Tecon, (Vaniish, Wax Idols), which balances a motorik pulse with guitar detonations. Their debut, Remnant, will be out on Felte Records May 19th.
Chasms (and their loyal fog machine) provided the emotional apex of the night, sending out "Beyond Flesh" to the late Cash Askew, and putting paid to any dry eyes that remained in the house. LA's Wreck and Reference capped off the night in style, providing a physical release to all the emotions bottled up. With moral support in the audience from members of Wax Idols, Them Are Us Too, and All Your Sisters, it was a night where everyone came away feeling a little less alone in the world.
