Taking A DIIV...

03 SEPTEMBER, 2012
DIIV took center stage at Soho, Santa Barbara to deliver a set that was their album, only more so.  The dreaminess of the songs was replaced with a harder edge, and everything from the guitar tones to the harmonies was intensified.  Freshly off the plane from a swing of European shows, the new tour began here, as DIIV starts a string of dates supporting Wild Nothing across the U.S.
DIIV started as a Brooklyn bedroom project of Zachary Cole Smith called Dive, but has evolved into a fully realized band.  Their debut LP, Oshin, is out on Captured Tracks.  "Air Conditioning", with its intertwining guitar lines reminiscent of Television, was the evening's highlight, and the most obvious signpost that the more they tour, the more these songs will evolve.
